18.01.2008/Todays final stage of the 43. edition of the Vuelta Al Tachira was won by Manuel 'El Gato' Medina. Medina dominated the Vuelta al Tachira and took his second overall win. Malaya van Ruitenbeek came in 13th.

Manuel "El Gato" Medina (Gobernación del Zulia) not only took the overall win of the 43. edition of the Vuelta Al Tachira, but he also won the final stage with a distance of 102 kilometres. After Medina took the fourth stage he dominated the race and played with his rivals.

The 13th and final stagestarted at Peribeca, to the Velodrome in Rubia. 
Medina, 31 years old, winner of four stages in the Vuelta Ciclista a Columbia and overall winner of the 2006 Vuelta Al Tachira, took his second overall title. Medina didn't give any gifts, he won took his ... stage win at this years Vuelta Al Tachira. Medina finished in 2 hours, 53 minutes and 6 seconds. It was the fourth stage win of 'El Gato' at this years edition of the Venezuelan stage race.

Carlos Galviz (Alcaldía Bolivariana de Páez)came in second, 18 seconds behind stage winner Medina. John Murillo came in third. The rider of the oldest cycling team in the world, Lotería del Táchira - Banfoandes, needed 38 seconds more than Manuel Medina. 

Malaya van Ruitenbeek came in 13th, 1' 10" behind stage winner Manuel Medina. Van Ruitenbeek was 41th overall, 2h. 41'. 33" behind overall winner Medina. Van Ruitenbeek reports with a regular diary from the Vuelta Al Tachira.

The 43. edition of the Vuelta Al Tachira is now over. The race the organizers already started to work on the 44th edition. Cyclingheroes intends to send a team to next years Vuelta Al Tachira which will bring you live reports from the 2009 edition of the race.
