12.04.2008/ Yesterday, Team Lampre was one of many teams that did a reconnaissance of some of the cobblestone sections of tomorrows Paris - Roubaix. The riders of the Italian Pro - Tour team trained at the toughest cobblestones parts, starting from the 8th (De Querenaing a Maing) to the 19th (Mons en Pevele) for more or less 70 kms (Arenberg included). Alessandro Ballan will lead the team tomorrow and two veterans of the team will probebly race Paris - Roubaix for the last time.

Like many teams the Lampre riders will use special bikes. Baldato and Ballan will have carbon frame, while the other blue-fucsia cyclists will use iron ones: Murro and Bandiera will have cyclocross frames. Forks will be in carbon, with special Vittoria tyres of 27”. Mechanics give the chance to the riders to use an additional frame set on the handlebar. After yesterdays training, the riders had to decide which gears they’ll use during the race.

Tomorrows edition of Paris-Roubaix will be probably the last one for Fabio Baldato  and Paolo Fornaciari. Both riders will retire after the current season. “I will give my best, I will save no energies," Fornaciari said. "In my 12th Roubaix, I want to achieve an outstanding performance for me and for the team."
Fabio Baldato will start at his 14th Paris - Roubaix tomorrow. Baldato said: “I’m in a very good shape, I will ride with the top: Sunday will be an emotional day."

Alessandro Ballan will lead the team at the French cobblestone classic.

Lampre roster for Paris - Roubaix 2008: Baldato, Ballan, Bandiera, Bossoni, Fornaciari, Mori, Murro and Napolitano.
