Jan Ullrich still has a lot of fans. Hundreds of cycling fans came to the opening of Stefan Ullrich's bikeshop in the Pistoriusstrasse (Pistoriusstreet) 12 in Berlin on Friday. After Jan Ullrich spent an evening with enthousiatic fans of the www.tourgott.de forum in Frankfurt on may 1, Ullrich's public appearence was the second in a relatively short time.

During his Berlin visit Jan Ullrich announced that he will publish a book. Ullrich said: "I will publish a book to tell my side of the story. I owe that to my fans." Ullrich continued by saying: "Cycling will clean itself. The sponsors will leave, the money goes away. Then people will ride for the love of it."

Ullrich retired in February 2007 and said he will not return to professional cycling. The Olympic Gold winner only rides for fun and "out of passion."
