Floyd Landis tested positive for testosterone after the Tour de France in 2006. The US rider won the 2006 edition of the French 3 week stage race, but lost his title again after a long legal battle following his positive test.

Hamilton served a 2 year ban for blood doping himself before joining the US continental squad. The 37 year old said: "I know what he is going through, we can help him return to the top."

In a reaction Rock Racing team owner Michael Ball said: "At this juncture, I have not made any decisions regarding the 2009 Rock Racing roster. He has a right to continue to make a living in his chosen profession."
