Cyclingheroes: How did it feel to ride with the US national champion's jersey on your shoulders at this years Tour de France?

George Hincapie: It was a great feeling. That jersey really stands out. I felt honored to wear my national colors in the biggest race of the year.

Cyclingheroes: Why did you decide to sign with T-Mobile and was it difficult for you that the sponsor left before you officially joined the team?

George Hincapie: I have been talking on and off with Bob Stapleton for the last year, and I really respect and support his vision in cycling.
It was a tough blow for the sport when T-Mobile pulled out. All we can do is continue on the path that Bob is providing and I think we will make a huge impact on the sport with our team.

Cyclingheroes: You could not start at this years edition of Paris-Roubaix. Are you satisfied with your performance in the last season anyway?

George Hincapie: It was hard to miss Roubaix and the early classics last year for sure. As for the rest of the season I was happy with the work I did in the Tour.  I am part of 8 Tour de France wins, something no other cyclist has ever done.

Cyclingheroes: Is the approach of Bob Stapleton very different from the way Johan Bruyneel managed the team?

George Hincapie: I have not been with the team long enough to comment on that.

Cyclingheroes: What will be your role at Team High Road?

George Hincapie: I will be one of the leaders of the team. I also have a lot of experience I can share with the younger riders.

Cyclingheroes: You know Michael Barry, John Devine and Roger Hammond from Discovery Channel, do you know your other new teammates already?

George Hincapie: We had a nice camp in october where we all got to meet and hang out with each other. I am excited to be racing with these guys.

Plan de Beret in the Tour. Being part of 8 Tour de France wins.

Cyclingheroes: How does a day of wintertraining of George Hincapie looks like?

George Hincapie: I wake up and take my daughter to school. Then go for a 2 to 5 hour ride. Come home take a little rest and then just got normal house and personal stuff done.

Cyclingheroes: Can you tell us something about your race programm for 2008?

George Hincapie: I will start off with the Tour of Califonia. Then race Paris Nice, then maybe Milan - San Remo. Up to the Belgium classics. Then I will take a break and get ready for the Tour.
