Vuelta Al Tachira: Strong Gonzalez grabbed 43 seconds

16.01.2008/ Ronald Gonzalez (Lotería del Táchira ) took the tenth stage of the Vuelta Al tachira. Race leader Manel 'El Gato' Medina defended his overall lead but the 2006 overall winner of the race lost 43 second on stage winner Gonzalez.

Ronald Gonzalez (Lotería Táchira) won the 135 kilomteres long stage to the summit of La Grita in a time of 3 hours, 17 minutes and 32 seconds. Race leader Manuel Medina (Gobernación Zulia) came in second, 43 seconds behind Gonzalez. Jimmy Briceño (Occidente-San Cristóbal) came in third, 1 minute and 7 seconds behind the stage winner.

The eleventh stage was very exting.Gonzalez and his teammates of the Lotería Táchira team started several attacks. Victor Morena, a medallist of the 2007 U 23 Venezuelan National Championships attacked and the Gobernación Zulia team had difficulties to contol the race.

Todays Eleventh stage is a hilly individual time trial of 24.1 kilometres between Lobatera and Michelena. The first rider will start at 09:30 local time.

We did not receive the complete results of the stage yet, so we don't know the result of Malaya van Ruitenbeek. Van Ruitenbeek reports with a regular diary from the Vuelta Al Tachira.
