23.01.2008/ Martin Garrido (Palmeiras Resort-Tavira)
took yesterdays prologue of the Tour de San Luis. The prologue was a 3.5 kilometres long individual time trail in the city
center of San Luis (Argentina).
Garrido clocked a time of 4 minutes and 26 seconds.
Fellow countryman Fernando Antogna (Chivilcoy) came in second, two seconds behind Garrido. Argentina's Alejandro Borrajo (Colavita)
came in third, three seconds behind the stage winner. Garrido is also the first overall leader of the 2008 Tour de San Luis.
Defending champ Jorge Giacinti (Scott-Marcondes)
came in 12th, seven seconds behind Garrido. Pro-Tour riders Fränk Schleck (42nd), David canada (57th) and Andy Schleck (84th) were
somewhere in the middle on the resultlist but as its the first race of a long season it wasn't really surprising.
Today the Tour de San Luis will continue with
the 168.4 km long first stage between San Luis city and Villa Mercedes. There will be category 3 climb after 20 kilometres.
German riders Tilo Schüler and Philipp Mamos (both riding with Team Sparkassse) publish a daily diary at our website. Til Schüler came in 104th, 28 seconds behind stage winner Garrido. Philipp Mamos had mechanical problems and came in 200th, 24 minutes and 1
second behind the stage winner.
