Day 6 Riders Diary Tilo Schüler and Philipp Mamos

26.01.2008/ German riders Philipp Mamos and Til Schüler will publish a riders diary at our website during the 2008 Tour de San Luis. The riders of the German Sparkasse squad will report regularly from Argentina. Today day 6: "In our minds we were already in the mountains."

Todays and therefore penultimate stage of this Tour was a 168 kilometres long stage whichbought us through the mountains of San Luis and ended with a four kilomtres long climb to the finish at 1200 metres above sea level.

Because Philipp did the climb during a training ride we knew that this time it wasn't just a shovel with sand, but rather a truck load. So we had to pinch our buttocks together one more time at the final kilometres.

The race was relatively unspectacular as we were riding on and off on a highway again. In our minds we were already in the mountains as we got caught by surprise by a heavy shower.

The streets were flooded, the water was standing up to our bottom bracket which caused a few spectacular crashes. We were happy that we reached the climb without a crash so we finally could ride at our own pace, some faster, the others slower.

Unfortunatelywe don't have any results yet but Rob must have been around the 30st place.

Tomorrows final stage will be flat and it probebly will be decided with a bunch sprint. Until then we will twiddle our thumbs and recover.
