In a first reaction on the open letter about the ongoing ASO – UCI conflict, Tour de France director Christian Prudhomme praised the initiative and commented that he agreed that: "Cycling is in great danger!"

But Prudhomme also said that there are many reasons why he thinks a settlement with the UCI is not possilble and accused the governing body of making "mendacious accusations."

The Tour director denied the accusation that ASO wants to take contol over cycling and that they are only interested in money.

UCI president Pat McQuaid received the open letter as well, but did not rect on the letter and was not willing to comment on it.

In the next days it will still be possible to sign the letter, many people who are involved in international cycling already signed the letter. Among them: teams, riders, race organisers, journalists and sponsors from various countries.

The man who started the initiative, Henry Fecherolle is satisfied after the first few days: "The reception has been great and the message arrived to the adressed. I did not expect that both gentlemen would fall into my arms but I will stay tuned on this case."

If you want to sign the letter, its still possible. You can read the full text of the open letter (German / English) and sign it at:
