At first South-African company no longer wanted to see its name on the team kits of Claudio Corti's cycling team but now
the company changed its mind. The team jersey will change but the name Barloworld will still be printed on it.
Claudio Corti is even negotiating about a deal for 2009 with Barloworld. According to Italian daily sports Gazetta dello
Sport, Corti already signed a deal for 2009 with Barloworld.
In an interview with the team Barloworld website, teambarloworld.com, Corti spoke about the Tour. "Without a doubt
it's been a difficult and unlucky Tour de France for us but we're very proud that John Lee Augustyn and Chris Froome have
emerged and shown their talent for stag racing despite both riding the Tour de France for the very first time," Claudio Corti
said.
Corti continued: "They've both got a great future ahead of them, cycling needs young riders like Chris and John-Lee."
Unfortunately it was not only the crashes that made Team Barloword's Tour de France so difficult. "Moises Duenas' case
also created problems," Corti said. "However the team's stance and behavior has always been crystal clear: we've always had
a zero-tollerance policy towards doping and we've always worked professionally and honestly. It is for that very reason that
we decided to carry on in the Tour de France." Corti said.
Credit Agricole is in a similar situation as Barloworld. After Sundays final Tour stage the French Anti-Doping Agency,
AFLD, announced that Credit Agricole rider Dmitri Fofonov tested positive for banned stimulant heptaminol after stage 18.
Fofonov was sacked by the French team at the same evening. Credit Agricole also has no sponsor for 2009 yet.
