"Watching Carlos Sastre in the Yellow Jersey and Andy Schleck in the White, side by side, today, armed with nothing but
moral fiber and muscles, was amazing. Although we expected the team to win, we never dared to hope for a victory of this magnitude.
At the same time, this year’s Tour de France proved to be a turning point for this sport. We are not only celebrating
Team CSC Saxo Bank, I truly believe their victory is triumph for the entire cycling industry," Kim Fournais, co-CEO of Saxo
Bank, said.
Team CSC Saxo Bank showed its strength after first Fränk Schleck, and then Carlos Sastre took the yellow jersey. Lars Seier
Cristensen and Kim Fournais said that they were stunned by the achievements of the team.
"Today, we not only celebrate Sastre, but all nine riders and Bjarne Riis who together have set a trend for the entire
cycling sport”, Lars Seier Christensen, co-CEO of Saxo Bank, said. “. It’s obvious to everyone that this
team is motivated by the desire simply to win. This is about the individual top performer supported by the entire team. That
is very much how we work in Saxo Bank and that is the secret of success. We are very proud to be associated with Team CSC
Saxo Bank."
The co-CEOs also told why they decided to enter a deal with the team.
"It is a lot like entering the financial markets. Now is a good time and if cycling stocks were available on the stock
exchange, we would be the first ones to buy. We simply wanted to be a part of the future bull market of cycling. It is safe
to say today that we made the right decision," Lars Seier Christensen said.
Saxo Bank’s co-sponsorship runs to the end of this year, and on 1 January 2009 Saxo Bank becomes the sole main sponsor
of the team that, from then on, will be known as Team Saxo Bank.
