The two-time Tour de France runner-up originally
pulled out of the event after injuring his knee at a post-Tour party.
Australia only had one berth and that went to Rogers after Evans' withdrawal.
But Australia gained a wildcard berth which Evans will use.
When he arrived in Beijing last Wednesday, Evans declared he was only a 40-60 chance of riding in the time trial.
But after working hard for Rogers and finishing 15th in yesterday's gruelling Olympic road race, Evans said the odds
had improved to 60-40.
Rogers was sixth yesterday, confirming he is back in form after he was forced off the bike
for about a month earlier this year because of illness.
The time trial will consist of two laps of the same Great
Wall circuit being used for the men's and women's road races.
While Evans might struggle to show his top time trialling
form, Rogers is now rated a medal chance in his pet event.
