Insiders saidd that Dekker had already signed with US team Garmin- Chipottle but team manager Jonathan Vaughters
told US based website velonews.com that this not the case. Vaughters said: “It's just a rumor,” said Vaughters.
“Right now there are no talks and there is no contract.”
Dekkers new manager, Martijn van Berkhout confirmed the words of Vaughters. Berkhout went even further saying that Dekker
would not sign with Garmin. Berkhout told wielermagazine.com: "In the coming days we will think about various options,
Garmin is not part of it. Thomas [Dekker, editor] wants to think about his decision as its an important decision for the further
devolopment of his career."
Berkhout also told wielermagazine.com that Jaques Hangraaf no longer represents Dekker as his manager. Yesterday morning
Hanegraaf was still speaking with Dutch media as Dekker's manager.
Thomas Dekker gave a short reaction to Dutch daily news 'De Telegraaf'. The 23 year old former Rabobank rider said he
does not think he will return to racing this year. Dekker said: "Because of all the hassle I didn't focus on the bike in the
last couple of weeks. I think its better to focus on the next season to come back stronger as ever."
Dekker did not say much about his split with Rabobank. "I have enjoyed riding with Rabobank for years but its clear that
we didn't get along anymore during the last couple of weeks. I don't want to say more about it because we agreed that we will
not comment the split. Now its important for me to find a good new team as soon as possible ."
