David staged a remarkable comeback at the Tour de France this season, after a two-year period away from the professional peloton
due to a doping suspension. Over the past two years, he´s been growing stronger and better prepared, conditioning both his
mind and body in spite of having been out of competition. David now knows perfectly well that one can learn from hardships.
He felt better and better after each race, happy to be part of the cycling world again.
The Vuelta had just started
and David was already in good form: the two first weeks, he contributed a lot to his team and managed to grab the first victory
after his comeback, when he was the fastest rider in the 14th stage, the ITT in Cuenca. The whole team, who had trusted him
from the very beginning, got truly enthusiastic about his win. What´s more, his victory highlighted David is an excellent
rider.
In addition to being one of the best time trialists of the day, David is playing a main role in the Saunier
Duval - Prodir team, as he managed to fit in perfectly and is considered as an example by younger teammates. His full, serious
commitment to his profession has become one of the team´s driving forces.
Saunier Duval - Prodir team Manager
Mauro Gianetti is very happy to have Millar: "David is a great rider, an example of how a pro must be. Of course, a high esprit
de corps can be useful, but professional cycling has become more and more demanding, and the trend now is to work individually
and count on a strong character within every team. Indeed, David belongs to this kind of professionals: he has integrated
perfectly into the team and is contributing a lot to it, but he can also set and focus on his own goals."
