Basso invited to train with the Italian national team
Ivan Basso was invited to train with Ballerini's Italian national squadra yesterday and was greeted warmly
by the riders. Basso and the national team did a four and a half hour training ride together and after it Basso
left again. The Italian national team went on to do some motor pacing before leaving for Salzburg.

Zabel in Münich
At the 43rd Sixdays in Munich, Erik Zabel (Milram) will ride in a team with Bruno Risi from Switzerland. They are
amongst the favourites for the race from the 9th to the 14th of November.
In 2005, Erik Zabel has won the Sixdays of
Munich with Robert Bartko. Now he strives for another success with his experienced partner from Switzerland.

Michael Schär for Switzerland
On Thursday, Phonak rider Michael Schär will start his first World Championship in the time trial. At 20 years of
age, Schär could still start with the Espoirs. But he wants to gain some experience in the highest categories. "It's great
that I was able to qualify," enthused the son of the former professional rider Roland Schär. Michael has been with Phonak
Cycling since mid-August and has gained experience on the Benelux and the Poland tour in this time. The longest time trial
in World Championship history will also be Michael Schär's longest so far, against his strongest competitors. Favorites for
the World Championship title are the Swiss Fabian Cancellara, David Millar (Gb), Vuelta winner Alexander Winokurow (Kas),
Sergei Gontschar (Ukr), Laszlo Bodrogi (Un) and the three-time title winner Michael Rogers.

Johan Van Summeren out for the worlds
During a last training in Belgium yesterday, Johan Vansummeren (Davitamon-Lotto) crashed heavily
on his shoulder.
An in-depth check has shown that his left shoulder's ligaments, requiring a six weeks recovery.Thus,
end of the season for Summie, who will be replaced in Salzburg by Thierry Marichal.
Wauters ends career
Marc Wauters (Rabobank) broke his collarbone after he crashed during a trainingsride yesterday. Wauters who wanted to
retire at the end of the season announced his immediate retirement yesterday afternoon.
Gajek won Omloop van het woudland
Arthur Gajek (Wiesenhof-Akud) won yesterdays Omloop van het Woudland. The Polish youngster came in solo and left Belgian Champion
Niko Eeckhout (Chocolade Jacques) and the German Danilo Hondo (Team Lamonta) behind him.
Gorik Gardeyn (Unibet.com) was
part of the leading group of nine riders. “Gorik jumped with twenty kilometres to go. He hoped for a reaction of a few
riders but instead the whole group returned”, stated team leader Hilaire Van der Schueren.
