In the last two years Cadel has finished second in the Tour de France and furthermore
he was successful in the spring season with stage victories in the Ruta del Sol, Paris-Nice and the Coppi e Bartali.
Next
season the Tour the France will be the main goal for Cadel Evans.
Silence - Lotto team manager Marc Coucke tolg sportwereld.be: "This great news. Not only for our team but I think for cycling
in general."
Coucke continued: "Its great that a rider like Cadel Evans chooses for loyalty and consistence by staying with his current
team. Of course there were several rumours that our captain would leave us but those rumours are wiped out now."
Coucke also told sportwereld.be that Silence - Lotto reached its limit but although no big names should be expected the
team is looking for more support for Evans. Coucke also will look at the performance of Yaroslav Popovych at the Vuelta a
Espana to see if his performance at this years Tour de France was just a temporary low.
Coucke concluded by saying: "The Tour de France remains Evans main goal. In 2009 it will be even more difficult to win
it or even get a podium place. The Schleck brothers will be another year older and stronger. Don't forget Carlos sastre in
that team. Than there is the comeback of Alberto Contador in 2009 at the Tour de France and Andreas Klöden will also give
it a go. I would immediately sign for a podium spot in Paris."
