Hans-Michael Holczer's current sponsor, the Gerolsteiner Brunnen GmbH announced in September 2007 that it would not renew
its contract with the German cycling team.
Since then Holczer was looking for a new sponsor and after Gerolsteiner's strong performance at this years Tour de France,
with 2 stage wins and 2 days in the yellow jersey for Stefan Schumacher and Bernhard Kohl winning the polka-dot jersey and
finishing third overall it looked like Holczer would find a new sponsor. But despite the strong results the team manager was
not able to sign a new sponsor and announced that the team will offcially end in December.
Holczer told German based website Radsport-news.com: "We haven't been involved in any of the known scandals. Despite
the best references and promising perspectives, the trust and especially the willingness to take on such a project was missing
in the interested parties, a project in which they could profit from a decade of investment and hard work."
"No sponsor hat the courage and trust to get involved in this thing," Holczer commented to German newsagency
DPA.
Gerolsteiners sports director Christian Henn will not be involved in the new cycling team of bike manufacturer Cervelo.
Henn thinks its a pitty that the team will dissapear. Henn told radsport-news.com: "Its a pitty that we will part ways now."
Austrian rider Bernhard Kohl announced that he has found a new team. Kohl will anounce his new team on September 8 during
a press conference in Vienna (Austria).
Milram's team manager Gerry van Gerwen said his team will sign some of the Gerolsteiner riders and other employees of the
Gerolsteiner team.
