Kannemeyer to replace injured Sabido in 94.7

Portuguese Barloworld's rider Hugo Sabido will not take his place today at Pick'n Pay 94.7 Cycle Challenge in Johannesburg after crashing out of Wednesday's training. The injury had more serious consequences than preview: as well as for his team-mate Giosuè Bonomi last Sunday in Pretoria, the diagnosis was a fractured wrist. Tiaan Kannemeyer will replace Sabido to complete Barloworld's roster including Felix Cardenas, Gianpaolo Chuela , Ryan Cox , James Perry and Rodney.

Pollack and Ludewig to Wiesenhof-Felt

Olaf Pollack and Jörg Ludewig signed a one year contract with the German pro continental Wiesenhof-Felt squad yesterday. Wiesenhof-Felt has now 4 riders who came over from T-Mobile after Bas Gilling and former Tour of Flanders winner Steffen Wesemann signed earlier with the team. Sports director Jens Heppner said: "We have turned our attention to build up a competitiveteam for 2007 after it was clear to us that leaders like Gerald Ciolek will leave." Heppner wants to tie up to the succes of te past season and continued by saying: "With Olaf Pollack and Jörg Ludewig we have signed two riders with a lot of experience, who will offer their sevices to us to manage the great challenges in the coming year."

33 year old Olaf Pollack is a sprinter and has won stages at the Course de la Paix, the Tour of Germany, the Tour of Niedersachsen (in 2002 he also won the general classification) and in 2001 he won Rund um den Nürnberger Altstadt. In this years Giro d'Italia Pollack was riding in the 'Maglia Rosa' for one day.  Pollack told German newsagency DPA: "One should not count me out, I will attack again next year."

Heppner said: "As soon as it was clear that Olaf wouldn't become a contract with T-Mobile anymore, we have contacted him. We also contacted Jörg Ludewig after we collected soem information about him. He also has great experience. He did ride the Tour and the Giro as a domestique for Gilberto Simoni and certainly will make us stronger."

Ludewig has won stages at the Tour of Bavaria and the Tour de l'Avenir. The team presentation will take pace on January 23 in Karlsruhe, Germany.

The 2007 roster of Wiesenhof-Felt:

Artur Gajek, Bas Giling, Christian Leben, Jörg Ludewig, Daniel Musiol, Felix Odebrecht, Olaf Pollack, Steffen Radochla, Robert Retschke, Torsten Schmidt, Andre Schulze, Stefan van Dijk, Martin Velits, Peter Velits, Robert Wagner and Steffen Wesemann

Will Oscar Freire be fit for the next season?

Oscar freire (Rabobank) had a lot of physical problems during the last season. At the moment Freire still has problems. Freire told spanish daily sports Marca: "I tried everything." Freire continued by saying: "I even changed my physiotherapist, all sorts of things. But nothing really helps. The headache I had during the season is getting worse." For the Rabobank team doctors it is a mystery whether the former world champion  will be as fit as a fiddle before the start of the new season.
