Dutch National Champion 4.000 meters
Niki Terpstra, who will ride for Team Milram in the forthcoming
season celebrates the start of his new job with a title. On Friday the 22 year old rider has won the Dutch National Championship
in individual persuit on the track over a distance of 4.000 meters in Alkmaar.
In the final race the new Milram professional
has won against his competitor Eelke van der Wal. Terpstra has won with a time of 4:33,248 which is a new track record. Van
der Wal needed 4:42 minutes.
Sven Nys breaks record with 150th win
Sven Nys was ill but still managed to win the 6th Cross super-prestige
race in Diegem (Belgium) which makes 6 out of 6 at the super prestige. Bart Wellens came in second. It was Nys 150th win of
his career and the 30 year old rider broke a record with 30 wins in 2006. The old record was 29 wins (2005) and was also from
Nys.

2007
Vuelta al Táchira
On January 7 the 42nd edition of the Vuelta al Táchira will start.
The Selle-Italia team with captain José Serpa and Wladimir Belli will be the only European team at the race. The race has
14 stages and will start with a criterium at Ciudad de Barquisimeto on January 7 and finish 14 days later at the Velodromo
in San Cristobal. The race in Venezuela has 14 stages and is 1.887,4 long. Last year the race was won by Columbian rider Manuel
Medina.
Ivan
Basso at Prima Vera
Ivan Basso will start at the first classic of
the season, Milano-San remo. Basso did not start at the race since 2002. The new Dicovery Channel captain announced the news
during the ceremony of the Premio Sport award which was won by the winner of the 2006 Giro d'Italia.
