Savoldelli not at Milano-San remo
Two times Giro d'Italia winner Paolo Savoldelli will start his season at the Vuelta Murcia (March 7). Il
Falco will not start at Milano-San Remo this year. Savoldelli told Italian daily sports Gazzetta dello Sport: "It [Vuelta
Murcia] will be my first test in my preparation for my main objective, the Giro. With the directors of my new team, Astana,
I worked out a programm that will, after my start in Spain, take me only once to Italy, before I start at the
Giro, " Savoldelli said.
David Millar about Puerto: some are not guilty
In an interview with Spanish daily sports AS, David Millar thinks that Operacion Puerto should be clarified
as soon as possible. Millar said: "amongst the concerned cyclists really are some that are not guilty, but who are paying.
The subject [Operacion Puerto] should be clarified as soon as possible."
Millar also spoke about new ideas in the fight against doping: "Perhaps directors and doctors
should also be sanctioned. Until now, only the cyclist is castigated. The cyclist disappears, but the system stays the same,
Millar said."
Millar was quite happy with his ITT stage win at last years Vuelta Espana but said he made a mistake by
racing the complete three weeks. Millar was tired after the Vuelta and wasn'r very strong anymore during the ITT world championships.
This year he wants to prepare like ITT world Champion Fabian Cancellara by leaving the Vuelta after two weeks. Millar also
told AS about his main goals for the 2007 season: "My objectives for this year are the prologue of the Tour de France,
disputed in London, and later on the World championship." Millar wants to gain five or six victories this year.
