31.03.2007/ After his brilliant novel "The Race", author Dave Shields has put together a fantastic sequel entitled "The Tour". "The Tour" is the continuation of Ben Barnes cycling career and the enormous pressure to use performance enhancing drugs that many athletes have to cope with today.

The main character professional cyclist Ben Barnes is 24 years old as he starts the race as a domestique. After Ben grabbed the yellow jersey on stage 10 to l'Alpe d'Huez, he becomes the new team leader. Life changes for Ben: as a team leader he has to build alliances with teammates and other riders in the peloton.

Ben crashed and his main rival Kyle sees this as an opportunity to attack and he managed to grab the leaders jersey. The rumor mill says Kyle might have taken PED's.

Ben's team manager, Robidoux, is doing everything he can to convince Ben that he should take PED's as well. Ben Barnes faces a moral dilemma: should or shouldn't he dope?

Author Dave Shields managed to keep the balance on a very thin line, he tells the story so well that the reader is able to understand athletes who decide to cheat. After reading the Tour I asked myself, is it enough to punish atlethes?
