Jörg Jaksche (Tinkoff Credit Systems) was in a breakaway group with  Stefano Usai (Uc Palazzago), Luca Gasparini (Sc Pagnoncelli), Marco Cattaneo (Sc Pagnoncelli), Norena Carlos Quintero (Gs Futura Team), Marco Stefani (Maltini Lampadari), Alessandro Donati and Aurelien Passeron ( both Acqua&Sapone-Caffè Mokambo). The group had a maximum lead of 2 minutes and 30 seconds. The group with Jaksche was caught and the bunch sprint was won by Ivan Fanelli (Cinelli - Endeka - OPD). Luca Ascani (Aurum Hotels) won the final general classification.

Cyclingheroes spoke with Jörg Jaksche on the day after his first stage race since the 2006 edition of the Tour of Switzerland.

Cyclingheroes: How was it to start racing again after such a long time?

Jörg Jaksche: Most people were really friendly, yes it was very nice...

Cyclingheroes: How was the deal with Tinkoff accomplished?

Jörg Jaksche: Tinkoff contacted me two weeks ago and we agreed on a contract very fast.

Cyclingheroes: How long will the contract run?

Jörg Jaksche: Until the end of the year.

Cyclingheroes: Can you tell us something about your race programm?

Jörg Jaksche: I would like to ride the Giro ([Giro d'Italia], a grand tour. But it is not certain yet if I will ride the Giro.

Cyclingheroes: Why do you think that on one hand a rider like David Millar is being received like a hero at his comeback last year and on the other hand a team like Tinkoff has a bad reputation because it signs a rider like Tyler hamilton. Why these double standards ?

Jörg Jaksche: I don't understand that as well.  Fact is, if Tyler's ban is over than he is allowed to race again. If Basso's case is filed, it is filed and than he is allowed to race again. It's that simple, these are the rules.
