19.06.2007/ T-Mobile released Sergej Gonchar from his contractual obligations today. The 36 year old Ukranian rider was suspended before the start of this years Giro d'Italia.

Neuer Starssen Sport GmbH, operator of the T-Mobile Team, today announced the immediate release of Segej Gonchar and termination of his contract for violations of the Team Code of Conduct previously disclosed. This decision by Team Management was based upon follow-up tests completed in early June and additional information gathered during his suspension. Mr. Gonchar is released immediately and is free to seek employment with another team or company.

The 36-year-old Ukrainian was initially removed from competition for 30 days from May 11th, following unannounced blood tests taken at the Tour de Romandie.

T-Mobile Team general manager Bob Stapleton: "We respect the rights to privacy of all parties involved and cannot release any further information at this time."
