02.07.2007/ Walter Godefroot and Astana part ways. Astana's Team manager, Marc Biver told German daily newspaper 'Der Tagesspiegel' that Jörg Jaksche's allegations against Godefroot are not connected  with Godefroot's resignation.

Former Team telekom manager Walter Godefroot is not working as an advisor for the Astana team anymore. Godefroot had a contract with the Astana team untill the end of the year but decided to terminate the contract earlier as planned.

Astana team manager Marc Biver told German daily news 'Der tagesspiegel': "He was an advisor and his job was to help us to buil-dup the technical infrastructure of our team. He did that. Now we don't need him anymore."

According to Biver the resignation of Godefroot is not connected with the allegations of Jörg Jaksche against Godefroot. Biver accused that Jaksche was "putting out rumours." The Swiss team manager will not investigate the allegations against Godefroot and Vinokourov. "If Jörg Jaksche becomes several thousand Euros for a nice stoy in 'Der Spiegel', then I miss the objectivity. Especially as he benefited for years of the system and now he is spitting in the soup."

Bivers is against team internal measures against doping. "We won't do something like CSC is doing because its forbidden by legal requirement concerning confidential medical communication.  We have exactly the same controlls and measures against doping as all other teams have. Why should we be convicted now, just because we have the best riders?"

Godefroot will leave Astana after this years Tour de France.
