As reported German rider Matthias Kessler tested positive on testosterone. The sample was taken at April 24, one day before
this years edition of the Belgian classic 'Fleche Wallonne'. The A sample hat a testosterone ratio of 84,5:1, allowed is 4:1.
The 28 year old rider was suspended two weeks ago by his team, Astana, after the news of the positive
A sample was announced by the UCI. Kessler lives in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland and therefore he has a Swiss license.
Today Swiss Cycling announced that Kesslers B sample is positive on testosterone as well. According to German
daily newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung the ratio of the B sample is even higher as in the A sample.
In a press release the Astana team announced that Kessler was fired today with immediate effect.
After the announcement of the positive A sample, Kessler insisted his innocense. Kessler said two weeks ago
that the cause could be nutrition supplements with Chinese writing on the packaging. Kessler could be punished with a two
year ban.
