11.08.2007/ Last week Dutch daily newspaper 'De Telegraaf' reported that Discovery team manager Johan Bruyneel could be an option to follow up Theo De Rooij at Rabobank. Yesterday Bruyneel told Belgian tv programm 'Sporza' that this was just a rumour. However today 'De Telegraaf' quoted Bruyneel that he would have to think about an offer of Rabobank.

Yesterday Bruyneel told Belgian TV programm Sporza that he will retire as a sports director from pro cycling. But he might come back to pro cycling in a couple of months. Bruyneel was offered a job at the Dutch Rabobank squad in 2003, but decided to stay with US Postal.

Today Dutch daily newspaper 'De Telegraaf' quoted Bruyneel, saying: "If Rabobank asks me again, I will have to think about it. I can't answer that question at the moment. I know there will be offers. When I choose for a new role with a team, it will be a management position. I don't want to be 200 days a year away from home anymore. I stay involved in cycling in the future. I am busy with founding a project for young riders in the USA at the moment."

Rabobank's managing director Theo De Rooij stepped down earlier this month after being critized for his handling of the Rasmussen case. On August 8 the Dutch team appointed Henri van der Aat (50) as the temporary successor of Theo de Rooij.
