Last month Rasmussen already started at a criterium in Charlokttenlund,
Denmark. The director of the criterium in Pijnacker, Maarten Welling told
reporters on Saturday that he contacted Rasmussen after he heard of Rasmussens start in Denmark. Welling told Dutch daily
newspaper 'De Telegraaf' that his organisation did not have any problem with signing Rasmussen for the crit: "He was a victim of the situation. He was not caught with doping, the reason
for his dismissal is still unclear. Still we felt sorry for him."
Welling did speak with the local branche of Rabobank which is sponsoring the race about signing Rasmussen
for the criterium, but according to Welling they had no problem with it.
Dutch cycling fans are devided about Rasmussen's exclusion of this years Tour de France and many readers
on Dutch websites posted reactions that they are happy to see Rasmussen in the Netherlands.
