Andreas Klöden wrote on his personal website www.andreas-kloeden.com that his moral is down again after building it up again by focusing on the world championships and the beautiful race in Rhede (Germany).
Klöden said about the positive test of his Astana teammate Andrey Kashechkin: "I don't want to prejudge anybody and the result of Kashechkin's B sample is not available yet, but its a mystery to me
taht there are still riders in the peloton who do not understand what they are doing to themselves and above
all to cycling." Klöden continues by saying: "Our sport is already at the bottom and they are continuing to stamp it into
the ground as if nothing happened." But Klöden says he is also happy that the intensified and better controls
seem to work.
Klöden is preparing for the world championships. The German cycling federation (BDR) announced today that
the federation will decide on August 29 if Klöden and Zabel will be nominated for the event which will take place in Stuttgart
(Germany). Klöden said: "I will not join the Astana training camp as planned. Instead I will continue to prepare for
the world championships in Stuttgart with my trainer Thomas Schwediwie."
It seems like Klöden is thinking about leaving the Astana team. Klöden said: "Furthermore I will also
have to speak with my management about my future in the sport." Klöden said he will ofcourse do the medical and physical
tests that were announced for all riders by the Astana team.
After the positive tests of Matthias Kessler, Alexander Vinokourov and Andrey Kashechkin the Astana squad
is in big trouble. The UCI announced yesterday that team manager Marc Biver will be summond to the UCI Pro-Tour commission
"to explain this disturbing situation."
