Todays time trial of the Vuelta a Burgos didn't shake-up the general classification as expected, and the race is still very much to play for on Saturday's tricky mountain stage from Ona to Burgos (158 km). Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d'Epargne) won the 15 km time trial in Ribera del Duero, finished with a time of 16'47". Valverde barely edged out Russian Mikhail Ignatiev. by 22" and Belarussian Andrei Kunitski by 34", and moved up to second overall behind Barloworld's Mauricio Soler.
Soler clocked a superb 17'27", the fifth quickest of the day, 40" seconds slower than stage winner Valverde.

Soler preserved his race leader's jersey for just 2". Taking into consideration the Colombian performance provided in the second hilly stage, he seems to have good chances to get the overall win after the final stage.
