Basso called Bettini

As reported Paolo Bettini threatened to retire if he would be forced to give a DNA sample and critised Ivan Basso for chaning his mind on the DNA issue. Australian based website cyclingnews.com reported yesterday evening that Basso called Bettini to clarify his current stance."I explained my position and Paolo understood; we are clear," Basso said. "I did not accept the DNA tests under any condition. I gave my availability for testing in cases where a judge would ask me; and this is obligatory for all."

War between Pro-Tour teams escalates

The conflict about the code of ethics escalated yesterday. During a meeting of the International Professional Cycling Teams (IPCT) group  on Friday in Brussels, the IPCT decided to exclude Discovery Channel from the group. Discovery Channel was represented by an attorney at Friday's meeting.

Kim Anderson talks about motivation

Kim Anderson talked with the T-Mobile team website about motivation. Anderson rides for the T-Mobile women's team. Asked if it is difficult to stay motivated year after year, Anderson said: "I have been a professional for 8 years. I think it is hard sometimes to get motivated, especially getting back into shape. However, I always travel to nice weather to train. My boyfriend Aaron Olson who rides for T-Mobile, helps a lot."

Asked if her long experience help to motivate the youngsters in the the team, Anderson answered: "I would hope so, primarily because they are already so excited about the sport and eager to learn. However, most of them are already at a high level so they don't really need it."

Asked if it is an extra motivation to ride for T-Mobile, Anderson said: "Very special! It's the number 1 women's team and a lot has been carefully planned and organised into making it that way. It’s a special feeling to be part of it. The other women are amazing athletes, so to ride with them in itself is very motivating. I think that motivation translates into race wins and reaching the goals that we've set."

There were moments that it was difficult to motivate herself: "Sometimes after a bad crash, it's hard to motivate yourself. And maybe being part of a team which doesn't have the same goals - it depends greatly on the people that you're surrounded by. Happiness is everything to me, so that can translate into a positive or negative experience, which translates into motivation."

Asked if some races are more motivating than others Anderson said: "At this level, they are all exciting for me, especially since this is only my second year to race a full season in Europe. But, I do look forward to the World Cups because they are one-day-events and we have a great team with so many riders capable of winning."
