Dekker breaks with Cecchini

Dutch rider Thomas Dekker will break his relation with Italian doctor Luigi Cecchini. Dekker told Dutch daily newspaper 'De Telegraaf': "I thought about it for a long time and decided that its better not to continue working with him."

Dekker reacted on an interview with Cecchini in the Dutch newspaper. Cecchini told 'De Telegraaf': "Because of all the lies my image is so bad that I asked Thomas to stop working with me. Our cooperation now has only negative consequenses for his career."

The relation between Dekker and Cecchini came under pressure after UCI president Pat McQuaid demanded that Dekker had to break his cooperation with Cecchini. Dekker said: "Ofcourse that played a role as I took my decision. Every time when I win somewhere people aver my relationship with Cecchini. People don't know who he is en what our cooperation include, but they do have their opinion about it. I am fed up that I have to defend myself again and again. That's why its better for my image that I stop with it."

Milram: Sponsor reacts on Jaksche's allegations

As reported German rider Jörg Jakschewas told German weekly 'Der Spiegel' that he was brought to performance enhanching drugs by Gianluigi Stanga, in that time Stanga was team manager of team Polti. Jaksche said: "Stanga said he wanted to start with the treatment. He wanted to find out what works for me." Stanga, nowadays team manager of Team Milram told 'Der Spiegel' that the allegation is "absurd".

Stanga is nowadays team manager of Milram and a member of the board of Milram sponsor Nordmilch AG, Martin Mischel, told German newsagency DPA yesterday: "We first need the exact words of the Jaksche's utterances, Then we will speak with Stanga and after that we will take a decision."

Mischel also said that a withdrawl from the Tour is not on Nordmilch's agenda at the moment.

As reported the Italian Olympic Committe (CONI) will hear Alessandro Petacchi about his 'non-negative' probe on Monday. In May Milram sprinter Erik Zabel admitted to have taken performance enhancing drugs during the nineties when the German sprinter raced for Team Telekom. A decision about the cancellation of Zabels contract will be taken "after the Vuelta in September," Mischel said.

Nordmilch invests about 10 million Euros per year in the Milram (which is one of the brands of Nordmilch) team. Nordmilch thought about leaving the spor and its still not sure if the company will stay: "We have appointed ceratin parameters that have to be accomplished." Should that would not be the case anymore the company would cancel the contract running up to 2009. Right now however this is not an issue.
