"Should Jan move house to Austria I will license him", said Rudolf Massak, president of the Austrian cycling federation,
therewith directly opposing the German federation which had declared it highly unlikely that Ullrich could get licensed in
Germany. "Professional cyclists are no saints, but the way they are treated is simply dishonouring, humiliating.
Everyone should be treated with fairness", said Massak.
Should Jan Ullrich want to change federations in charge for
his license, he needs to relocate to the country he wants to obtain a license from. "Right now everything that has been published
so far is mere speculation, and this is an unacceptable state of affairs" said Massak. "The UCI passed this difficulties to
the national federations." Massak continues "It cannot be that Ivan Basso is aquitted in Italy an Jan Ullrich is convicted
in Germany while Jörg Jaksche is absolved in Austria because of lacking evidence."
